Resource Development Associate

PRIMARY FUNCTION

The Resource Development Associate is responsible for providing support to the Development Director in the planning, development, administration, maintenance,and implementing of comprehensive private and public sector financial resource development and fundraising programs on behalf of the Boys & Girls Club of Springfield, which will result in increased financial resources for the Club. This position reports to the Director of Development and under limited supervision supports a plan to secure a broad base of diversified financial support adequate to achieve the goals and objectives of the Boys & Girls Clubs of Springfield.

 

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

The key roles, essential job duties, and responsibilities for the Resource Development Associate include, but are not limited to:

General

➢ Assist in the development of the design and implementation of a comprehensive financial resource development program and appropriate marketing strategies.
➢ Assist in the development of the marketing campaigns for fundraising projects or programs.
➢ Assist in the development of the design and implement and/or maintain a structured fund-raising program as an aspect of the Club’s overall program and as economic resource development.
➢ Identify, define, and acquire funding resources available for the Club.
➢ Assist in the search for new corporate and foundation funding sources and help to maintain positive relationships with current and past donors.
➢ Assist in the implementation of the Club’s strategic plan as it pertains to resource development.
➢ Work collaboratively with the Director of Development, the Resource Development Committee and staff members to identify avenues of economic support for Club programs and projects.
➢ Aggressively pursue fundraising goals as determined by the Board ofDirectors, Resource Development Committee, Director of Development and Executive Director.
➢ Support strategies for and assist in coordination of all fund-raising activities of the Club in keeping with Club goals.
➢ Assist with the development of public relation materials to enhance the Club’s image and promote the fundraising program.
➢ Examine ways of packaging and marketing these programs to philanthropic supporters.
➢ Research public and private grant agencies, foundations, and corporations to identify sources of funding.
➢ Assist with the organization’s direct mail campaign to reach potential contributors.
➢ Maintain, preserve, and keep current updated database on all past, present, and potential contributors.
➢ Develop and maintain current knowledge of public relation principles and practices.
➢ Participate as a Club representative for publicity events as directed by the Director of Development.
➢ Design, develop, update, and revise Club brochures, videos, fundraising support material and mailing inserts as it pertains to financial resource development.
➢ Carry out such other general responsibilities, tasks, or duties as may be delegated or assigned by the Director of Development.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:

➢ Comprehensive knowledge of the mission, objectives, philosophy, policies, programs, operational standards and procedures of the Boys & Girls Clubs;
➢ Comprehensive knowledge of fundraising techniques and sources of funding for not-for-profit agencies and organizations.
➢ Comprehensive knowledge of public and private resource development, funding and service resources for Boys & Girls Clubs, not-for-profit organizations, and youth programs.
➢ Comprehensive knowledge of annual giving, capital campaigns, foundation/corporate solicitations, deferred giving, communications, and special events.
➢ Demonstrate organizational, planning, and management writing skills and oral communication skills and the ability to work effectively with others.
➢ Demonstrate independent judgment to determine project guidelines, purpose, follow-through and completion.
➢ Strong demonstrated skills and successful experience in management and/or direction of fund-raising activities and projects.
➢ Strong ability to organize and coordinate fund-raising projects.
➢ Ability to use technology to monitor, develop and manage the resource development plan.
➢ Ability to understand financial reports including budgetary guidelines and project expenditures.
➢ Ability to assign and delegate work, problem solve, answer questions and evaluate results of performance.
➢ Ability to communicate the written and spoken word with tact, diplomacy, and/or authority when necessary.
➢ Ability to meet on a timely basis the goals and objectives
.➢ Ability to meet deadlines, be a self-starter, work under pressure with many priorities and deadlines.
➢ Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with Club staff, board members, volunteers, community groups, and other related agencies.
➢ Ability to prepare NAP and YOP applications, quarterly reports, and tracking forms
➢ Produce reports to effectively assess donor status or situation
➢ Effectively take minutes for committee meetings or task forces
➢ Ability to visualize and assess abstract ideas and develop structured plans for the implementation of financial development and marketing plans.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university. Minimum of two years experience in Development, Fundraising, and/or Public Relations.
